You might get a kick out of this.

I just came across a post from 10pm est on April 15 (aka tax due date) of someone saying “for some reason H&R block is experiencing heavy call volume”, and then proceeding to ask a question about how to answer one of the tax prompts on work location.

I kinda hope the statement about the heavy call volume was a joke and acknowledging getting bit by bad behavior (of course all the procrastinators were logged on doing the same thing), but the truth is it doesn’t matter. This person was down to the wire and clearly hadn’t fully digested the W-2 information, if it was even looked at.

This reminded me of something I’ve heard a lot in my career and fully believe in.

Work will expand to fill the amount of time allotted. So if you’re trying to get more done, give yourself less time to complete the task and be religious about your deadlines.

That’s it.
