It’s 12:15am. 3:15am in the timezone my body think it’s still in.
I’m late, a little groggy still, and not sure what to expect.
He surprised me though. It was a blissful 20 minutes of silence.
Thanks, Uber Driver!
The ride got me thinking about a couple of things. The concept of permission marketing (how you opted into this email) should apply to Uber rides. Maybe some sort of profile setting that says “don’t talk to me.”
Or even “don’t talk to me during these time windows” … kinda like the “do not disturb” function on a cell phone.
I know I might sound like a curmudgeon but I said what I said…
… which leads me to a bigger point, whether marketing yourself for a new job position or marketing for your business or product.
You have to know your audience. Even if you don’t have handy user preferences to tell you. There’s no way around it. Keep this fact top of mind and you’ll be better off for it — moving up in your career, changing your career, or bringing in more profits for your business.
p.s. Here’s a good place to start if you’re looking for other money making nuggets you won’t find in any textbook.
