learning

I was pushing through another marketing book recommended by some folks I trust (The Copywriter’s Handbook by Bob Bly) — when I came across a line that stopped me dead in my tracks.

He said, “A book gives you in a day what it took someone years to accumulate.”

As I read that, I thought about how hard it would be for me to try to gather the knowledge of his wildly successful 30-year career.

Even if you put the time aspect aside — which is a huge consideration — there’s also the reality that a lot of people learned the most from mistakes that cost them a good chunk of money.

The challenge is this approach only makes sense when you trust the source. There’s a lot of misinformation out there and following the wrong advice may do you more harm than good.

If you’re reading this, I’m going to assume you trust me at least a little bit and I want to make good on that trust, so going back to the offer I’ve been making over the last two days.
