I’m fired up like Marshall from Paw Patrol today — and I’ve been fired up for a few days now after reading a 3-word Facebook post.
Here’s the story — my friend, Charlene posted a simple message that said “Do it scared.”
I had just listened to her on FB live talking about her commitment to doing more live speaking, and encouraging other people to do whatever that thing is that they know they need to do but have been putting off.
When I saw the message, though, it unleashed all kinds of ideas I started working on. I’m pretty good about getting after things when I say I’m going to do them, but these 3 words cranked it up a notch for me even from my normal level.
It’s like I’ve gotten a temporary brain boost, and I’m trying to max it out before I go back to my normal levels.
If you’re thinking this has nothing to do with you, try these on for size:
Maybe you’ve been thinking about applying for a job, but you feel like you don’t meet enough of the requirements and you’re scared you won’t get selected. Do it anyway. Do it scared. Worst case if you do it scared? You get some practice applying, interviewing, and selling your skills. If you need it, I can help you.
Worst case if you don’t do it scared? You stay exactly where you’re sitting right now. That’s not necessarily the worst thing in the world but if you’re looking for progress… this isn’t the way to do it.
So what if you’re living that entrepreneurial life and aren’t applying for jobs? That’s ok because what you should be doing is acquiring new customers and the same idea of shooting your shot applies, especially if you’re a service provider who tends to work 1:1 with people.
You might even be a hybrid, with an idea for your side hustle but you’re putting of creating your website. It’s not that hard — I’ll even show you how here (for free).
All of that is to say I want to see you putting some points on the board. Wins still count, even if you’re scared the whole time. Embrace it and power through.
That’s all I got — happy Friday.
